When Harley was two days old, his mom put on a CD and he stopped breathing. Not much has changed since then.
He’s had a lifelong obsession with understanding what makes music so impactful. Growing up in Hawai’i, that meant looking for answers in recordings ranging from classical to pop, playing in youth symphony, going to Celtic and Bluegrass jam sessions, and performing with a Hawaiian singer songwriter. Today, he arranges and records strings from his home studio nestled in the trees of Ashland, Oregon.
His approach to string arranging combines his abilities as a cellist, songwriter, and a producer. He’s recorded strings on dozens of albums including a Billboard #1, worked with artists like Cayson Renshaw, Haley and Michels, Jim Brickman, Laurie Lewis, Thomas LaVine, Vintz Desert, Genesis Ritchoot, Joel Iglesias, Mat and Savanna Shaw, and Jordan Hart. His work is regularly featured on AlexRainbird, Indie Folk Central, and Indie Music Center, Spotify, and Apple editorial playlists.
